Smithsonian Institution
For the Smithsonian Institution, we have developed four annual reports that convey its scope and depth and reinforce the message to donors that a gift to the Smithsonian has a unique impact.
By honing text and focusing on key messages, we have been able to convey more with less, cutting the number of pages in half in the first year we took over the project and highlighting the Smithsonian’s reach to millions of people through research and education as well as museum visits. We also developed a package of materials for the James Smithson Society, an annual giving circle. |
University of Pennsylvania
For the past two years, the University of Pennsylvania Health System’s Department of Surgery has turned to Steege/Thomson to produce its annual report. Tightening the report’s focus on just a few key messages, we were able to reduce the book’s page count by nearly a third while increasing readability.
Our reports convey the department's leadership through compelling stories, charts and graphs. Steege/Thomson also did several print pieces for other schools at Penn as part of Making History: The Campaign for Penn.

National Writing Project
In addition to building a new Website for the National Writing Project, we created a suite of publications aimed at diverse audiences.
Targeting teachers, educators and policy-makers nationwide, these print materials position the National Writing Project as the leading advocate for strong writing instruction in U.S. schools. They include an annual report and series of brochures, each written specifically for a different audience.
Steege/Thomson is proud to note that the NWP annual report is a finalist for the 2007 Award for Marketing Excellence from the Association of Educational Publishers.

University of the Sciences in Philadelphia
For the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (USP), Steege/Thomson developed a case statement, campaign brochures and newsletters for a $15 million capital campaign. The campaign focused on financial aid resources and a campus expansion that encompassed new buildings and an improved campus in an urban neighborhood.
One donor of a multi-million dollar gift told USP that our brochure for the new science and technology center helped him realize that the University was “no longer your father’s pharmacy school.” We completed the highly successful campaign with a snappy donor recognition brochure. |
Philadelphia Safe and Sound
In the midst of a major transition that included a new CEO and an expanding mission, Philadelphia Safe and Sound turned to us to convey its evolution to its many stakeholders.
Under the theme of "Changing Lives," we created an annual report that details the organization's growing initiatives and capabilities.
In addition to vivid photography, the publication features inspiring stories from a variety of people who support Philadelphia Safe and Sound and bring its mission to life.
