living beyond breast cancer

Diverse audiences, one community.

Anyone can have breast cancer, and everyone experiences it differently. Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC) is a national patient support organization committed to ensuring that no one feels alone or uninformed during their breast cancer journey. ST has worked with LBBC since 2014 to achieve that mission through innovative media relations strategies, raising awareness of its programs and services tailored to the needs of young women, Black women, LGBTQ people, men, those living with metastatic disease, caregivers, and more.

LBBC in Memphis

In 2017, we helped introduce LBBC to Memphis, a market known for particularly high rates of racial disparities in health outcomes. In partnership with the Memphis Breast Cancer Consortium, we developed a strategic effort spanning radio, digital, and billboard advertising. Our efforts resulted in 33 news stories in outlets ranging from The Commercial Appeal, Memphis Magazine, and Memphis Health and Fitness to The Tennessean, Baptist Leader, and Black Health Matters. Best of all, we beat attendance goals for LBBC’s National Conference in Memphis, connecting women to needed information and support.

LBBC in San Antonio

SteegeThomson helped raise LBBC’s national profile as thought leaders by publicizing its spotlighted poster, “The Changing Informational Needs of Young Women Affected by Breast Cancer” at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium December 7, 2022. Within a month, audience reach was 690 million in outlets ranging from Health Day, US News, today.com, and Yahoo! to ASCO Post and Physician’s Weekly. A geo-targeted digital ad campaign with CURE focused on health care providers within a 10-mile radius of the conference, delivering 47,800 impressions and driving almost 200 to LBBC’s webpage for providers.

“Sexual health is a really important quality of life issue, and we need to have this information given out to young women — and people of all ages, really — that are diagnosed with breast cancer.”
