Robert Alford

Robert pursued his Ph.D. in Film and Media at the University of California, Berkeley because he’s fascinated by how visual media can be used to tell stories, and at SteegeThomson this background helps him breathe new life into communications for clients. His prior work at the Hammer Museum, UCLA, and Swarthmore College (of which he is an alum) give him expertise in nonprofit fundraising as well as strength as a writer, strategist, and project manager. He is always thinking about how to engage audiences in new ways across different platforms, and there is nothing he enjoys more than helping passionate organizations achieve their goals.

What is your favorite aspect of communications/marketing?
I find it very rewarding to be able to translate the needs and mission of an organization into communications that change people’s perceptions, move them emotionally, and persuade them to offer their support.

What was your favorite subject in school? Why?
Art history has always been close to me because I love learning how different cultures have communicated visually, but I also love biology. I started college on a pre-med track but changed plans when I realized how much chemistry I would have to take!
