Repositioning a Regional Powerhouse

Philanthropy Network Greater Philadelphia

You’ve put your name on the map. What happens when you’ve outgrown the map?

In 2013, after 26 years as Delaware Valley Grantmakers, Philadelphia’s membership association of regional funders realized its name no longer conveyed its scope or geographic focus.

Tasked with rebranding the organization, SteegeThomson first conducted focus groups and interviews to identify DVG’s unique role in the region, and created messaging that reflected the organization’s value in connecting members and improving giving practices. The new name, tagline, and logo — Philanthropy Network Greater Philadelphia: Smarter Giving. Greater Good. — were unveiled at an annual conference through a digital media story SteegeThomson wrote and designed. We also supported the launch by placing a byline by CEO Debra Kahn in The Philadelphia Inquirer, launching the @PhilanthropyPHL Twitter platform, and organizing a Twitter chat on Giving Tuesday.
